There are plenty of opportunities to go fishing in and around Horsens. However, anglers aged 18 to 65 must hold a valid angling license in order to go fishing in Denmark. Angling is fishing using light hand tackle. Fishing in trout lakes (called "put and take"), does not normally require an angling license, but a pass which can be purchased on site. Your angling license is personal, and you must carry your receipt for payment while fishing, together with personal identification. In fresh water the owner of the lake, river, etc. must give permission to fish.

Where to go
Nice places to go fishing in and around Horsens are:
- The streams of Gudenå, Mattrup Å, Bygholm Å, Store Hansted Å and Lille Hansted Å. Here you can primarily catch trout and grayling.
- Bygholm Sø where you can catch perch, pike, and zander.
- Horsens Fjord also offers many nice angling spots where you can catch sea trout and garfish.
